Can I do CrossFit even if I am injured?

One of the common questions that we've gotten recently, in particular, has been, "Hey, I'm hurt. Should I still come and work out?" As you know, we have a wonderful, lovely athlete who broke her foot while surfing in Costa Rica, so she's now in a boot. What can she do, especially on a day like today which is deadlift day? The class is going to start with a run, deadlift, kettlebell swings, goblet squats, not really good for someone with a broken foot. So should she even bother coming?

Sleep Opportunity

Lots of us struggle with getting enough sleep. Have you ever laid in bed, you're tossing and turning, that starts to stress you out and it becomes this never-ending cycle of stress, can't sleep, stress, can't sleep?

Instead of thinking about getting sleep, which we can't always control, think about sleep opportunity, Think about the time that you go to bed, lights are out, eyes are closed, and count that as the time that you're trying to sleep.

Why You Should Take Amino Acids

We lift weights and train to build bigger stronger muscles, but exactly how does the building process work? Resistance training triggers protein synthesis, a signal that tells our body to use proteins to construct new muscle tissue. Supplementing with BCAA’s during and after resistance training can increase the protein synthesis signaling, meaning more muscle growth! Even without resistance training BCAA’s can aid in the preservation of lean tissue and help prevent fat gain!

Body "Neutral" vs. Body "Positive"

Body neutrality is the philosophy that while we want our bodies to healthy, our looks do not define who we are. We are happy with what our bodies can do, how they perform, and that we only have one body so we should make the most of this opportunity.

The truth is that no one loves their body all the time. We have bad days. We have "fat" days. We have sluggish days.

And that's OK.

Because we strive for a sense of peace with our bodies.

How to Stay Healthy on the Road

It’s OK to take a break from working out when you’re on vacation. A little bit of R&R (rest and relaxation) are good for the soul. How to Become Sugar Savvy

If you’re having trouble meeting your nutrition, weight loss, or fitness goals -- or just generally feeling tired and run down -- you could be eating too much sugar.

When we talk about sugar, most people think of ice cream, cookies, or soda, but sugar lurks everywhere in processed, packaged food. Just because a product is labeled “organic,” “all-natural,” or “gluten-free,” doesn’t mean it’s healthy or “sugar-free”.

Practice and train major lifts: Deadlift, clean, squat, presses, C&J (clean and jerk), and snatch. Similarly, master the basics of gymnastics: pull-ups, dips, rope climb, push-ups, sit-ups, presses to handstand, pirouettes, flips, splits, and holds. Bike, run, swim, row, etc., hard and fast. Five or six days per week mix these elements in as many combinations and patterns as creativity will allow. Routine is the enemy. Keep workouts short and intense. Regularly learn and play new sports.
